Serinus mozambicus
This small canary with its blackish malar stripe, and bright yellow frons and supercilium, is a common to abundant resident in eastern South Africa. It prefers savanna, riverine woodland and man-made habitats such as fallow cropland, gardens, parks and edges of plantations.
We first recorded this common canary in April 2010 while having a picnic in Kloofwaters, Magaliesberg.
