Coracina pectoralis
This difficult to find cuckoo-shrike, favours well developed Mopane and Miombo.
Our first experience with this species, which took place in July 2012 in Northern Namibia, must go down as one of our more exciting sightings. We were travelling back from Mahango Game Reserve in the heat of the day when something told me to stop and look at what my brain wanted to tell me was just another bulbul but my gut said was something quite different.
Fortunately I followed my gut and lifted my binoculars to find a stunning white-breasted cuckoo-shrike at the end of them. What a suprize! With Eileen’s help I was also able to get a few decent photographs of this highly sought after species.
