Terrestrial Brownbul

Phyllastrephus terrestris

This common resident in forest and forest edge thickets is easily recognised by the soft chattering it makes as it moves through the leaf litter.

I first saw this brownbul in August 2010 while investigating the small town of Kaapsehoop in the Mpumulnaga Province. Given the habitat and movements of this species, it took some effort before I was able to get a decent photograph.
