Cursorius temminckii
This plain, rufous courser is darker than the similar looking burchell’s courser, and has a black (not white) trailing edge in flight as well as a rufous (not grey) hind crown.
We were driving around the Nxai Pan National Park in April 2011 when we first discovered a pair of these coursers running around the dry, barren landscape that makes up much of the Makgadikgadi complex.
