Turdoides bicolor (endemic)
Southern pied babblers are medium-sized cooperative breeders, which are endemic to southern Africa, and hang out in arid savannah, especially thornveld. Like their brown cousins, they make a tremendous noise as they “babble through the bush”.
These black and white birds are also common residents along the Zaagkuildrift to Kgomo Kgomo birding route and in Borakalalo National Park. We first recorded them in October 2010 at the latter.
