Southern Masked Weaver

Ploceus velatus

Unlike the village weaver, this polygynous, masked weaver has a mostly plain, greenish back and breeds primarily in single-male (not mulit-male) colonies.

We have seen this weaver on hundreds of occasions, as it is common and widespread throughout South Africa.
