Afrotis afra (endemic)
The endemic, southern black korhaan is slightly bulkier than its northern cousin, but is best distinguished from this separate species, by having all black flight feathers and primaries. It is confined to the western cape, where it is a common resident of coastal fynbos and Karoo scrub.
We recorded this species in November 2010 on our first visit to the West Coast National Park on the west coast of South Africa.
