Amadina erythrocephala (near-endemic)
The male’s red head, scalloped underparts and relatively larger size make it fairly easy to distingusih from other seedeaters.
We first recorded this species in April 2011 in central Botswana. A brilliant place to see and photograph this pretty finch is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, especially at the Groot Kolk rest camp where they are numerous and friendly.
