Chlorophoneus sulfureopectus
This bright yellow bird is one of 6 species of green bush-shrikes in southern Africa. It is much smaller than the grey-headed bush-shrike and prefers acacia savanna and riverine forest. Its yellow forehead and supercilium are diagnostic.
We first recorded this species in September 2010 while on a bush walk with Joseph Gumede in Ndumo Game Reserve. My best sighting and photogoraphs came from a trip to Mabula Game Reserve in January 2015.
