Mountain Wheatear or Mountain Chat

Oenanthe Monticola (near-endemic)

This particular wheatear is interesting in that the male occurs in three different variations; a grey morph, a drak morph and a pied morph.  I first recorded this species in March 2010 while investigating the Wakkerstroom area for the first time. It is very easy to find and photograph at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, south east Gauteng.
