Tricholaema frontata
The Miombo Pied Barbet is a white, yellow and black barbet with both sexes having a red spot in the centre of their foreheads and black spots on their breasts. Its habitat is mainly dense miombo woodland and is found in Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.
I first saw this stunning Barbet in the miombo woodland outskirts of Dzanlanyama Forest in Malawi. We found a pair carrying food back to their nest, but were unable to find the nest itself.
