Cisticola luapula
Very similar to the rufous-winged cisticola (although ranges do not overlap), the luapula cisticola can be distinguished from other species by its bright rufous crown and wing panel. It prefers swamps and marshes and is found in the northern reaches of Namibia and Botswana.
We first laid eyes on this cisticola in July 2012 while on a boat ride along the Ockavango River in northern Namibia. Although we were given decent views, the birds were a little too far from the boat for decent photographs.
