Lanius minor
This summer visitor to southern Africa has an incredibly wide range and is distinguished from similar looking shrikes by having no white scapular bar.
I first saw this shrike in October 2010 while birding the Zaagkuildrift to Kgomo Kgomo birding route. Kgomo Kgomo town is a very reliable spot for this species, which can usually be located around the houses adjacent to the floodplain.
