Emberiza impetuani (near-endemic)
This rather nondescript bunting is a common nomad in arid savanna, semi-desert plains and karoo scrub. My first sighting of this near-endemic took place in June 2012 while birding Beaufort West and the surrounding areas with Jaapie Claassen.
We also got great sightings of it in southern Namibia, where it was a common sighting at such places as Klein Aus Vista and Zebra River Lodge.
