Ardeotis kori
This huge bird; the largest of the bustards, is generally a scare resident and nomad in semi-arid savanna and grassland.
We first recorded it in April 2011 near Nxai Pan in Botswana. Our best sighting of this species however, took place in Etosha, Namibia in July 2012, where we saw over 15 of them on a single game drive. A great spot to see and photograph them in South Africa is the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
