Karoo Korhaan

Eupodotis vigorsii (endemic)

This grey-brown korhaan has a black throat and nape patch, and can be told from its peers by its plain face and neck.

I first recorded this relatively drab korhaan with Gordon Botha in September 2011, while birding the Tanqua Karoo for the first time. Since then Eileen and I have seen it on a number of occasions in the Karoo and Namibia.
