Turdoides hartlaubii
Previously and appropriately called the “white-rumped babbler, this species’ white rump and vent distinguishes it from all other brown babblers in the region. Although quite limited in its range (from a southern African perspective), being found only in northern Namibia and Botswana, it if fairly common in its preferred woodland habitat, specifically close to rivers and streams.
Our first decent sighting of this “river” babbler was in July 2012 while on a game drive in Mahango Game Reserve in Northern Namibia.
