Grey Waxbill

Estrilda perreini

Besides the fact that their ranges do not overlap, this east coast waxbill is different from the cinderella waxbill in that it has no red in its bill or thighs.

I first recorded this species in January 2010 while visiting family in Ocean View on the south coast of KwaZulu Natal. A great spot to find them is Umdoni Forest in Pennington, especially along the road that leads to the old age villa.
