Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird

Pogoniulus bilineatus

Dressed for robbing banks, with its masked facial patterns, and small enough to fit in my wife’s hand, the yellow or golden-rumped tinkerbird must be one of the cutest birds of evergreen and moist lowland forests.

We first recorded this species in March 2010 in Ocean View (near Pennington) on the south coast of KwaZulu Natal.
