Common Fiscal

Lanis Collaris

This black and white shrike is very common throughout southern africa. At least 8 races occur with the biggest difference being the desert and arid races, which have a distinctive, white supercilium.

We have seen at least two of the subspecies; “subcoronatus” in Kagalagadi Transfrontier Park and “capelli” in the Western Cape and Gauteng.
