Batis molitor
The male’s white flanks, broad breast band and plain back, together with its unique call, distinguish it from other similar species, namely pale and pririt.
We first recorded this common batis in March 2010 while staying at Mkuze Falls Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu Natal. You can easily see this species in moist savannah such as Suikerbosrand and Roodeplaat Dam Nature Reserves.
