Bushveld Pipit

Anthus caffer

This tiny, short-tailed pipit is a tricky species to find in its open woodland habitat and is definitely considered a “special” species to connect with by birders.

Our first sighting of this little bird took place with Jen and John Whittall at Mokaikai in the Waterberg. This private reserve has pristine woodlands, which harbour a number of special species including this heavily streaked pipit.
