Black-collared Barbet

Lybius torquatus

Named after its black collar, this fairly large, red-headed (in some cases yellow-headed) barbet is a common resident in a variety of habitats, including forest, woodland, savanna and gardens.

We first recorded this common garden bird in February 2010 while walking around our neighboorhood park.
