Apalis thoracica
With 13 sub-species in southern Africa this common, widespread apalis is definitely one of the most variable birds in our region.
I first recorded this species in August 2010 while spending a weekend at Kaapsehoop in the Limpopo Province. It took until November 2012, however, before I was able to get decent photographs of this bird at Thendele Camp in the northern Drakensberg.
