Accipiter tachiro
This striking goshawk is widely distributed throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa occurring in woodland, forest, alien plantations and wooded urban areas.
We first saw this goshawk in August 2010 in Kaapsehoop (near Nelspruit), where it was making its presence known by taking an early morning flight high above the ground and emitting its clicking call (like two rocks hit together at two second intervals). I eventually got a decent photograph in March 2014 at Bonamanzi Game Reserve (near Hluhluwe, northern KwaZulu Natal).
