African Dusky Flycatcher

Muscicapa adusta

This cute, dumpy flycatcher is a common visitor to our parent’s home in Ocean View on the south coast of KwaZulu, where we first recorded it in January 2010. Its small size, more prominent white eye-ring and plain crown distinguish it from similar flycatchers.

Umdoni Forest in Pennington and Giants Castle in the Drakensberg are great spots to see and photograph this species.
